Cat's Tales...True Stories of Some Silly Kitties

Reeni, at Cinnamon, Spice, and Everything Nice, posted some adorable pictures of her cat, Moon, so I thought I'd show you my babies and tell you a silly kitty story. Here's Tasha and Tawni.
They're sisters and I'm sure they're Irish because they were born
on St. Patrick's Day seven years ago. Here they are, cat-napping
on my bed.

You've already met my newest kitty, Skinny, aka the newest foodie blogger. She was a stray, living under my car in the parking lot. The first time I saw her, she was just skin and bones, meowing piteously as I took my dogs out for a walk. It just about broke my heart; so of course I had to feed her. She wouldn't let me come near her, so I sat on the steps and watched her eat, talking to her. I fed her every day, twice a day, spending hours at a time talking to her, for two weeks before she finally adopted me.

Sundays are supposed to be somewhat of a lazy day, just laying around the house, watching TV, relaxing, or writing your foodie blog. Not today. One of my friends came by because she noticed a stray cat was stuck on a third-floor balcony of an empty apartment. Silly little kitty had climbed up a tree to get there and couldn't get down.

We stood there, trying to figure out what to do and how to get him down, then she called a friend who has a ladder. Long story short,
he never showed up. Must not be a kitty lover or else he wanted a lazy Sunday. We called maintenance but their answering service isn't answering. So we called Wildlife Animal Rescue and they can't come out because they don't have a ladder.

So I called my daughter, who is a firefighter, to ask if the fire department would come out to rescue the cat. They do it all the time in movies, but not in San Antonio. And she doesn't know anyone who has a ladder, either. In the meantime, we've got a crowd gathered around outside trying to figure out how to rescue this silly little kitty. We're pretty sure it's a he, and we've named him Moe.

NEWS UPDATE: Moe just jumped from the third-floor balcony, OMG, went sailing through the air (who knew cats could fly?), landed on his feet, and gave everyone a quizzical look, wondering why we were all
so worried about him all day. Men! They act so helpless when they're perfectly capable of taking care of themselves. I'm SO glad I have girl kitties. Being the kind-hearted souls that we are, we gave him some fresh water and cat food, and we're now pampering him, telling him what a brave kitty he is to jump.

This is a true story. It really happened. Names have not been changed to protect the innocent.

Aww, your kitties are so cute. They look so content. And is that kitty helping you write a blog? I'm glad Moe found his way down!

Thanks for sharing. I can never hear enough kitty stories. My Andy means the world to me. Aren't we so lucky when cats choose us to live with?

I certainly hope that the kitties are helpful to you in the kitchen. Do they taste test your recipes?

At least you didn't have the firemen out there with big ladders when he decided to jump, errr, fly! That would have been hysterical. I can just picture him almost within arms lenght and poof, he's flying!

What a great story!! My tomato has (I think) fallen in love with stepdaughters cat. He races around looking for her, and when she appeared on Saturday he leaped into the air, did some sort of acrobatic ballet kick and ran to her! If that's not cat-flirting, I don't know what is! :)

Didn't it scare the living daylights out of you to see this flying cat?

I love your kitty cats. They certainly are adorable. We used to have a HUGE cat named Sam who would actually knock on the front door when he was ready to come back inside. :)

Your cats are adorable! I love the story. Typical cat-like. We have three cats, one male (Dante) and two females (Sheba and Bella).

Dante and Sheba have the same mother and were a couple of weeks old when they joined the family. Bella was meowing at our dining room during one very cold day in March last year. We let her in and she never left!
